There are many things to consider when deciding if you need a new roof but one of the main things to consider is that a new roof will add a lot of value to your home if you decide to sell. Not only will it make your house look more attractive it will more importantly shield you from all types of weather while you are living in it. It is a hard decision to make as many people do not like to spend money on things they don’t necessarily see when they are in their home. Most people will only notice their roof when it is leaking.
If you are planning to live in your home for a long time then a new roof is a very worthwhile investment. People will spend a small fortune repairing the same problems on their roofs year after year even though they will live in it for a long time. There are various different types of eaves and verges that protect the edges of roofs where they meet the house walls. This is where guttering is attached to drain water that falls on the roof.
Flat roofs are usually covered in bituminous-based asphalt or roofing felt, and tend to have a shorter life than pitched roofs. If you have a problem with your flat roof it's best to get a professional to look at it - although you can buy a special sealant for making your own repairs to splits or blisters in the roofing felt
There are key differences between constructing a flat roof compared to a pitched roof and it’s important to understand the basic criteria.
The starting point involves laying roofing joists across the two upright items, which in most cases will be the walls of the structure. Using the steel joists will provide more stability and these are usually found in one, if not both, of the walls.
The distance between the joists is usually around 400mm, although this will depend on the size of the roof and type of material that will be applied. This is to reduce the amount of pressure placed on top.

UPVC gutters come in one continuous unit as they are made from mounded plastic. They have no seams and need no paint, hence a lesser chance of corrosion with time. ... They bend, twist and dent much easier than the plastic variants. PVC gutters are less costly and more convenient to install than metal guttering systems.
UPVC gutters have a shelf life of around 25-35 years after this the rubber seals become pours and the plastic becomes brittle, so under weight of water and waste sometimes the gutter will crack or become weak and liable to being damaged more easily.
Whether you need a small gutter repair or a completely new set of guttering, we will ensure very competitive pricing and the very highest standards, guaranteeing a perfect result on gutters, fall and down pipe repair.

The fascia board is the one mounted at the point where the roof meets the outer walls of the house and is often called the ROOF LINE. However most people refer to it by the name of the main board that carries the gutter – the fascia or fascia's.
Fascia
The fascia board is the long, straight board that runs along the lower edge of the roof. The fascia is fixed directly to the lower ends of the roof trusses and usually does all the work of supporting the lower edge of the bottom row of tiles. The fascia board also carries all the guttering.
Barge-board
This is the board that is used on the gable end of a house. The condition of the barge board can often make or break the look of a house, and over the years it has evolved into some very attractive shapes.
Soffit
The soffit board is tucked away under the fascia board. It is usually the board that you see most of from street level. The soffit can be ventilated to allow the flow of air into the roof area. Alternatively, ventilation can be provided over the top of the fascia board. Many people prefer the latter solution these days. Without adequate ventilation, condensation will form in the roof void increasing the risk of timber decay.
Boxend
The Box End is a work of art, accommodating as it does the many different angles, planes and heights of the fascia, soffit and barge board at each corner of the house where there is a gable end.
